Like they say, if the foundation is strong then, the building will stand. Could we work on positively impacting teenagers? Could we keep them gainfully occupied? Could we occupy their minds with positivity? Could we replicate best practices? Could we make their learning more enjoyable and relevant? Could they all have access to digital devices? Could the digital devices be screened for undesirable content? Could checks and balances be in place, to avoid abuse? Could we teach them life skills especially those they may not get in the classroom? Could we incentivise good behaviour and sanction bad behaviour? Could we assign them to positive role models? Could this be done digitally? Could we encourage talent, when we come across these? Could we give enough reasons to encourage them, to build our country? Could we lead by good example? In our words and our deeds?

Could we effectively leverage the internet, to bring out the best in them? Could we build great systems and structures, to effect positive change? Could we intentionally invest in making them a priority? After all, they are tomorrow’s leaders?

Here’s a summary of my journey: I dabbled into voluntary work as I intended to add value to the religious organisation. I worked as the Public Relations Secretary, Economic Empowerment Secretary, Treasury Secretary, etc. It was during my short spell as the Economic Empowerment Secretary that I decided on my journey. I then worked on this dream and decided it would be my legacy project.

Entrepreneurship is mainly about running a business. This could be profit-related, social enterprise, or charity (not-for-profit). Entrepreneurship is sometimes regarded as doing business outside the box, in fresh and novel ways. 14. My Entrepreneurial Journey

Here’s a summary my entrepreneurial journey:

I have a creative mind, with loads of business ideas; some are new while others are modified. Some probably make sense, while some may not be readily appreciated. As my list of ideas is so long; with no realistic prospect of me actualising them on my own; I decided to create content, and share such with the general public. I then cherry-picked the ideas of choice, for execution.

I do a lot of journalling, capturing most of my brain waves. In my last spell in paid employment, I decided strategically not to chase position. In my opinion, it will be lots of added responsibility, with little additional income. It could also derail me from my entrepreneurial pursuits. I decided to invest in my entrepreneurial dream. I attended different courses and seminars both online and offline. I also continued to find knowledge and learn; some of my learning was actually from my kids. It’s my fervent hope that the effort and sacrifice will be greatly blessed.

I decided to become a digital entrepreneur because it ticked most of my boxes. It ticked the legacy box. It ticked the impact box. It ticked the potential income box. It ticked the flexibility box. It ticked the box for scaling, etc.

16. Finding Your Purpose

Different people have different purposes; some find it early, in mid-life, or later in life. Some study Engineering but it may not be their calling.

Dr Ali Abdaal is a young medical doctor but he made his millions or billions through content creation; and has impacted many lives.

Simon Coulson of Internet Business School was more or less my introduction to the digital entrepreneurship space; he probably qualified as an Engineer, but he’s made a fortune in digital entrepreneurship and has impacted several thousands.

Ashiwaju Sam Harvard spent about 5-7 years in a Nigerian university studying physics, he eventually probably made a 3rd class. In his spare time, he studied Affiliate Marketing on YouTube. He’s probably a millionaire or billionaire. I also made some money through his platform. He’s impacted several people. He was the final inspiration for me to create my Affiliate Marketing course.

Michael Jackson’s purpose was found or imposed while he was less than 10 years old.

Whitney Houston developed her passion from the church choir.

Mr Saunders of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) made his breakthrough at about age 65.

Fela Kuti’s purpose wasn’t medicine, but music.

Papa Adeboye studied mathematics and was probably a lecturer; but his purpose was ministering; etc.

17. Finding My Purpose

You might want to know how and when I found my purpose. I found it while volunteering, when I was in my forties. My role as economic empowerment secretary was the trigger. I then explored my options by researching, investing, praying, learning, and taking action.

I use content creation, as well as mentoring and coaching, to achieve my aims. Like is often said, “you are most likely to find, if you search.” The searching may be through your effort and your striving; it may be through research, it may be through life experience, it may be through consuming content, it may be through a mentor or coach, etc.

“You can get it if you really want, but you must try severally; you’ll succeed at last,” These are edited famous words of Elder Jimmy Cliff.

Remember, it’s never too late.

18. Could Nigeria Succeed?

As an optimist I’ll say, yes, however, a lot of work needs to be done. There’ll also be pain and sacrifice.

Like they say, “nothing good comes easy.”

They also say that, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

If we’re intentional at succeeding, and if God grants us the grace, we could succeed within a decade.

19. Adding Value to Nigeria

A lot of us probably sit on the fence, watching the country slide away. We don’t get involved in politics and may not leave our comfort zone. The problem is that when it rains, it shall rain on us all; and indeed on our generations. As elites, we need to think of ways and means to add value to our country. We need to research best practices. We need to constructively and intentionally rub minds. We need to share ideas beneficially.

We could effectively leverage technology and the internet. We could work on our youths as well as teenagers. They may be young today but in a short while will they grow. We should work on their mindsets and build strong foundations. We shouldn’t leave it all to the classroom teachers or just to their parents. Just as I said earlier, when it begins to rain, we shall all get wet. Let’s give it some urgency. Let’s be intentional. Let’s pray for guidance and direction. Let’s act in our various little ways; after all, help comes to those who help themselves.

20. Benefits of Giving

Some of us think of ourselves, our children and family; it’s all about us, and just us alone. What has happened to giving and sharing, or being our brothers’ keeper? What happened to receiving in the act of giving? Isn’t the sky capable of accommodating one and all? Does one candle, lighting another, diminish its quality of light? What has happened to our values? The strong values we grew up with? Sometimes, when you give to him, the reward may come through her. We need to ingrain these habits in our young ones teaching them to give in cash or kind. Probably this may be one of the building blocks, for greater tomorrows.
