36. HEALTH AND WELLNESS
It is simple to let your health suffer in the haze of social gatherings, homework, and classes. The game-changing reality is that putting your wellness first does not only mean avoiding a visit to a hospital; it also means giving yourself the tools you need to face college life with vigour, fortitude, and self-assurance.
Let’s begin with the fundamentals: Motion. To enjoy the advantages of exercise, you don’t have to be a gym enthusiast. Whether it is dancing classes, intramural sports, or just strolling around campus between lectures, find things you want to do. Frequent exercise is great for your mental and emotional well-being in addition to improving your physical health.
Your best defence is also nutrition. Give up the idea that eating a balanced diet is costly or monotonous. Try your hand at making inventive dorm-friendly meals, check out the salad bar in the dining hall, and never go without nutrient-dense snacks. Recall that eating well-balanced meals supports your immune system, stabilises energy levels, and enhances concentration—all of which are critical for completing rigorous study sessions and meeting deadlines.
Never undervalue the importance of mental health. Recognising that college can be stressful is okay. Make use of the counselling facilities available on campus, engage in mindfulness or meditation, and develop relaxing hobbies. Creating a solid support system of colleagues, mentors, and friends can also be a vital safety net in trying times.
You are not just taking care of your physical health when you adopt a rounded approach to wellness; you are also positioning yourself for success in every aspect of college life. Thus, make self-care an essential component of your daily regimen. When you are all grown up and full of energy, your future self will be grateful that you made this investment today.
