 38. MANAGING DEADLINES

Overcoming several deadlines is essential to succeeding in education and positioning yourself for success in the working world. Firstly, get organised. Organise all of your deadlines for the semester by using a digital calendar or investing in a planner. Divide more complex projects into smaller, more doable jobs, each given a mini-deadline. With this method, large jobs seem less intimidating and you feel like you are making progress as you complete each stage.

Becoming Organised

Setting priorities is your superpower. Since not all tasks are created equal, organise your to-do list according to priority and urgency by using strategies like the Eisenhower Matrix. Prioritise your most important work first; don’t allow the temptation of quick, simple chores pull you away from your priorities.

This will transform the game: get going early. While it may seem pleasant to put things off, procrastination leads to stress. As soon as a project is assigned, start working on it, even if it is simply to outline or brainstorm. This provides you with a safety net against unforeseen difficulties and time for edits and enhancements.

Jack’s Empowerment

Remember the need for balance. While achieving deadlines is important, your health shouldn’t have to suffer as a result. Take breaks, continue to practise good health, and carve out time for enjoyable hobbies. A creative and industrious mind is revitalised. And remember, it is alright to ask for help. Make use of the professor’s office hours, organise study sessions, or simply ask for help.

Not only will deadline management help you ace your classes, but it will also equip you with valuable abilities for your future profession. So, take on the challenge, hone your tactics, and observe as you go from dreading deadlines to being an expert at time management.

Thank you very much for your time.
