123. DO YOU SEE THE GOODNESS IN OTHERS?
It is simple to see peers as rivals rather than allies in the college environment. However, one of the most important life skills that can greatly improve your college experience and future professional connections is learning to recognise and value the goodness in people. This viewpoint acknowledges that each person has distinct abilities, life experiences, and potential contributions to make; it is not about foolish optimism.
Understanding that people’s actions and behaviours are frequently influenced by circumstances we may not be aware of, is the first step towards seeing the goodness in others. A classmate who appears aloof, may be going through a difficult time personally. It is possible that a tough professor is encouraging students to realise their greatest potential. You can create opportunities for meaningful connections and cooperative learning experiences by approaching relationships with empathy and an open mind.
This way of thinking also helps you grow as a person. Your understanding of human nature becomes more insightful and balanced when you deliberately seek out the positive traits in other people. You can improve your professional networks, study groups, and friendships by adopting this viewpoint. Additionally, it contributes to the development of a more encouraging and friendly campus community, where everyone is treated with respect and worth.

Keep in mind that acknowledging the good in others does not imply disregarding negative conduct or sacrificing your moral principles. Rather, it is about keeping a balanced viewpoint that chooses to emphasise potential and possibilities while acknowledging both strengths and faults. In addition to improving your college experience, this strategy will get you ready for leadership positions in the future when it is critical to understand and bring out the best in others.
