 151. IS THE LOSS OF YOUR PARENTS ENOUGH TO UNDERACHIEVE?

One of the most traumatic situations in life is losing a parent. You may feel overwhelmed and shaken, as if the earth has been torn out from beneath you. This loss can make it difficult for you to concentrate on your studies as a university student, leading you to doubt your capacity for success. But consider this: can this loss be a source of inspiration to keep going, or is it a reason to fall short? You can honour your parents’ memory by aiming for academic and personal success, even if grieving is normal and healing takes time.

Submission, Gratitude, Faith and Hope 

Many people who lost their parents have gone on to accomplish amazing things—not in spite of, but because of, their loss. For instance, Oprah Winfrey overcame unspeakable adversity, such as losing loved ones at a young age, yet her unwavering perseverance allowed her to become a worldwide celebrity. Such experiences serve as a reminder that although a loss can mould us, it need not define us. Rather, it can be a pivotal moment—a source of fortitude and resilience that motivates you to put in more effort and pursue your goals.

To get you to where you are now, your parents probably made many sacrifices. They had a successful and opportunity-rich future in mind for you. Deciding to fall short of your potential and their efforts is dishonourable. You continue their legacy by putting in a lot of effort and remaining committed to your goals.

In the end, losing your parents is a difficult but temporary chapter in your life. You can choose to let it define you in a negative way or to embrace it as motivation to become great. You will always face obstacles in life, but even the most difficult circumstances can be transformed with perseverance, willpower, and purpose.
