153. SHOULD I ENVY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE? Jack’s Undergraduate Empowerment - Empowering Undergraduates - Jack’s Empowerment - Ire o

 153. SHOULD I ENVY SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE?

It is normal to get a hint of jealousy when you see successful people. You may question why their lives appear to be so ideal when you are having trouble adjusting. This sensation is only heightened by social media’s carefully chosen portrayals of success, prosperity, and joy. But before envy takes over, stop and consider this: is success truly as easy as it seems? Should you waste your time feeling jealous of other people or should you take inspiration from their accomplishments to improve yourself?

What are your thoughts?

Success is rarely as easy as it seems, in reality. Every achievement has a backstory filled with hardship, sacrifice, and failure. Greatness does not happen to successful individuals overnight. They make innumerable sacrifices, persevere through hardships, and get over self-doubt. You can’t see the underlying hardships that shaped them when you are jealous of their achievement without taking into account their journey.

Jack’s Mindset

Instead of feeling jealous, try to absorb their knowledge. Which behaviours, principles, or tactics helped them succeed? How did they overcome obstacles or deal with setbacks? You can develop your own route by learning from the experiences of successful people. Focus on how you can adapt their thinking to accomplish your own goals rather than what they have, that you lack.

It is also important to keep in mind that success is a personal experience. Your personal goals and ideals may not coincide with what you see to be success in others. Spend some time defining your personal definition of success. Is it having a stable income, being well-known in your field, your spiritual journey, or just having a happy life? It becomes less necessary to compare yourself to other people when you concentrate on your own path and goals.
