232. SHOULD YOU ENVY YOUR SUCCESSFUL PEERS? Jack’s Undergraduate Empowerment - Empowering Undergraduates - Jack’s Empowerment - Ire kabiti

232. SHOULD YOU ENVY YOUR SUCCESSFUL PEERS?

It's normal to run with classmates in college who appear to have it all figured out. Some succeed in extracurricular activities, others score important internships, and yet others effortlessly earn top marks. When you see their achievements, it's easy to feel jealous; but should you? Why not take inspiration from their achievement to push yourself farther, rather than letting envy cloud your judgment?

Jack’s Life Lessons For Teenagers

Since success is a journey, various people experience it at different times. Don’t presume that you’re failing or that your time will not come, just because someone else is succeeding right now. Analysing their strategy is crucial; what are they doing differently? Are they more proactive, more disciplined, or more receptive to opportunities? Think about what you can do rather than what you lack.

Jack’s Mindset

When envy results in negative feelings like resentment, self-doubt, or even social disengagement, it can become harmful. But when used constructively, it may inspire energy and ambition. Instead of negatively competing with others, concentrate on competing with yourself. Establish attainable objectives, put in a lot of effort to getting better, and gauge your progress according to your own accomplishments rather than the timeline of others.

What are your thoughts?

Remember that success is a personal journey impacted by commitment, hard work, and persistence, rather than a race. The achievements of your peers should motivate you rather than scare you. Honour their accomplishments, ask for guidance when needed, and keep your attention on your own development. You set yourself up for more scholastic and personal success when you shift your perspective from one of jealousy to one of inspiration.
