242. ARE EMPLOYERS INTERESTED IN RESULTS OR EXCUSES?
Results are more important to employers than excuses in today’s work sector. It is essential to understand this mindset as an undergraduate getting ready for the workforce. No matter how good an excuse is, it doesn’t change the results. Companies want people who can take charge, solve problems, and produce outcomes in spite of setbacks.
Accountability is a key factor that separates successful professionals from those who struggle. Although challenges are unavoidable, your growth is determined by how you handle them. A result-driven person will look for alternatives, seek assistance, or work harder to fulfil deadlines, for a project. On the other hand, excuse-makers will make use of external circumstances to defend failure.
Businesses evaluate applicants’ problem-solving skills during performance reviews and employment interviews. A candidate who exhibits ingenuity and resilience makes a greater impression than one who only lists the challenges they encountered. Every job has its share of difficulties, and employers want people who can overcome them without always placing the blame on external factors.
Developing a results-driven mindset as a student will help you succeed academically and in your future profession. Focus on ways to get better, including better time management or asking for academic help, rather than attributing low grades to a challenging course, a ‘bad’ teacher, or a busy schedule. You will stand out in any sector if you master the practice of conquering challenges rather than always making excuses.
Unexpected setbacks are inevitable in life, but how effectively you handle them will determine how successful you are. In addition to making you an attractive employee, developing a mindset that is more concerned with solutions, than excuses, can set you up for both career and personal advancement. You have the option of concentrating on outcomes or making excuses.
Remember that the world is increasingly becoming a global village. If you fail to perform in the work place, you could quite easily be replaced by man or machine.
