11. DIGITAL DECLUTTERING - Becoming Organised - Jack’s Empowerment and Inspiration - Empowering And Inspiring Generations - Jack Lookman

 11. DIGITAL DECLUTTERING

Digital clutter can be just as burdensome as physical clutter. It is easy to feel disorganised and distracted when there are hundreds of emails, messages, files, and apps vying for your attention.  An untidy digital workspace can waste time, just as much as a disorganised desk can slow you down. You can stay productive, locate information fast, and lessen mental overload by keeping your digital life organised.

Declutter your gadgets first.  Remove everything you don’t need from your computer, tablet, or phone, such as old files, unnecessary apps, duplicate images, or out-of-date emails.  Finding what matters is made easier with a tidy digital workspace.  Instead of having important files strewn all over your desktop or downloads folder, arrange them into folders with clear labels.  Time and irritation are reduced with a well-organised digital file system.

Another important step is to manage your emails.  Finding important information is difficult for many people since their inboxes are overflowing with thousands of unread messages.  Make time to clear out old emails, unsubscribe from pointless newsletters, and organise your files into distinct folders for business, personal, and bills.  This procedure can be automated with the use of filters and labels, guaranteeing that emails are sorted as soon as they are received.  By responding, deleting, or filing emails right away rather than allowing them to accumulate, you may keep your inbox as empty as possible.

Finally, control your notifications and screen time. Constant notifications from apps and social media can interrupt your focus and make it hard to stay productive. Turn off unnecessary alerts and set designated times to check messages instead of being distracted throughout the day. Regularly reviewing and organising your digital life keeps your devices running smoothly, saves time, and helps you stay focused on what truly matters.
