 27. IS YOUR DAILY ROUTINE HELPING OR HURTING YOU?

Your level of productivity and organisation is greatly influenced by your daily routine.  Certain habits position you for success, by assisting with balance, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention.  Others result in ongoing worry, time wastage, and incomplete assignments. Your routine can be working against you rather than for you if you feel like you’re constantly having trouble staying organised.  The good news is that you can establish a routine that helps you stay organised, and supports your goals by making a few small changes.

Finding time-wasting habits is the first step to making your routine better.  Many people begin their days without a clear strategy, wasting too much time on pointless activities or diversions, like social media or television.  Even though rest is vital, an unplanned schedule can leave you feeling disorganised and unproductive.  To start, keep track of your everyday activities, to determine how much time you are spending on each task.  Are you disregarding key obligations, and wasting too much time on low-priority tasks?

A solid schedule should incorporate planned time for work, relaxation, and personal development.  Schedule your most critical chores for when you are most alert and concentrated.  Plan tough chores for early in the day, if you are more productive in the morning.  Make the necessary adjustments if you work best in the evenings.  Additionally, schedule time for self-care pursuits, including hobbies, reading, and exercise.  A balanced routine enhances general well-being and organisation.

Consistency and adaptability are essential components of a successful routine.  Although it is important to adhere to a planned course of action, give yourself permission to make changes as needed.  Because life is unpredictable, things don’t always go as planned.
